Dialogue from a conversation at the New York Small Business Expo:

Julia: Hi, Julia here with Independent New York News in partnership with Manhattan Business TV. We’re covering New York’s Small Business Expo at the New York Midtown Hilton Hotel. We’ve got a lot of vendors and business providers reaching out to small businesses. We’ve had a networking event, speed networking event. There’s a lot of energy here, a lot of small businesses interacting with providers, and overall, it’s great energy. Please watch our show for the full coverage. Thank you.

Unknown Speaker 1 (representing a Law Firm): We are a general practice Law Firm. We do corporate work, support all types of businesses, and also handle litigation, intellectual property, wills, and estates. We were just curious to see all these small businesses present in New York, to meet new people, and of course, potentially bring some new business to the firm. We are located in Midtown on Madison Avenue and 52nd Street.

Unknown Speaker 2 (representing a digital signage company): My name is Andy Chavan. We have a digital signage company. Everything we do is about digital. Everything we have here is manufactured by us, so everything you see comes in any size, any color. We have digital interactive kiosks, smart mirrors, kiosks with hand sanitizers, and even holograms. We manufacture everything in China but are based in Westchester, New York.

Dialogue from the conversation at the New York Small Business Expo:

Michelle: Hi, my name is Michelle. I own Triangle Social Media. I live in North Carolina, but I’m from New York, and my partner’s at Beacon Creative Lab. We’re two different businesses, but we collaborate a lot because every business needs help with social media, marketing, they need a website, and all the things. Triangle Social Media is five years old, and I’ve been doing social media for about 12 years. I love to help small and medium businesses. So, you know, we have to do social media, we have to market ourselves, it’s critical. We have to do videos and so I help with all the things.

Interviewer: What sets you apart from other social media companies?

Michelle: Most people, or a lot of people, will ask, you know, what is your niche? Who are your clients? And I answer with, “I’m the niche.” So that’s what makes me different. I’m pink and sparkly, and I brought something sad into happy. My sister passed from breast cancer, and so I turned that kind of gradually over the years into my brand, where it’s a positive thing. It makes me happy, it sets me apart, and it kind of stands out.

Interviewer: Are you based in New York, and do you have a website?

Michelle: I’m from New York, I live in North Carolina. I help people anywhere. My website is trianglesocialmedia.com, and my email is Michelle at trianglesocialmedia.com. I’m on all the platforms, would love to connect and meet people and collaborate or support.

So, we have a suite of services and a risk assessment powered by MasterCards. It’s a cyber-quant assessment that helps businesses assess their risks to cybercrime. We have a suite of services to protect them, and then we have access to an insurance policy to mitigate that risk and backstop them if something bad were to happen.

Interviewer: Are you located in New York?

Jim Cross: No, we’re in Northern Virginia, just outside of DC.

Interviewer: What is your website?

Jim Cross: It’s perculus.com.
